Description

☛ KURUKULLA: BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Kurukullā (Tibetan: ཀུ་རུ་ཀུ་ལླཱ་; also Tibetan: རིག་བྱེད་མ་, Wylie: rig byed ma “Knowledge/magic/vidyā Woman”, Chinese: 咕嚕咕列佛母 “Mother-Buddha Kuru[kullā]” or Chinese: 作明佛母 “Knowledge-Causing Mother-Buddha”) is a female, peaceful to semi-wrathful Yidam in Tibetan Buddhism particularly associated with rites of magnetization or enchantment. Her Sanskrit name is of unclear origin
Kurukullā is a goddess whose body is usually depicted in red with four arms, holding a bow and arrow made of flowers in one pair of hands and a hook and noose of flowers in the other pair. She dances in a Dakini-pose and crushes the asura Rahu (the one who devours the sun). According to Hindu astrology, Rahu is a snake with a demon head (Navagraha) who represents the ascending lunar node.
She is considered either an emanation of Amitābha, one of Tara’s forms, or a transformation of Heruka.

☛ FULL FIRE GOLD PLATING
The whole body of this Buddhist Statues of Kurukulla has been gilded with gold by the ancient process of gold gilding using amalgam Gold. Mr Suman Shakya our inhouse Craftsman and Gold Plating expert has helped us in Gold plating this Buddhist Statues for us, This is a risky job for we heartly thank him for this contribution.
This process of Gold gilding is known as Mercury Gold Gilding (पारा Pārā सुन Suna जलप Jalap), Fire Gilding, or Fire gold plating(In Nepal). Gold gilded by this process is very good for the copper statues, as the statue gilded by this process will retain the gold for a very long time. Gold Gilded by this process is comparatively expensive to the modern electrochemical plating but due to its durability, it is still a preferred choice for many collectors and practitioners alike.

☛ LOST-WAX SYSTEM
This Buddhist Statues of Kurukulla is made by the process of the Lost Wax system. This is a very complicated, time consuming and historic process of making metal sculptures.Which is why it is sometimes called Precision Casting as well. Hence the sculptures made by this process are comparatively expensive. There are many new, advanced and less time consuming methods of casting metal sculptures available as well. But due to the benefits provided by the traditional lost wax system in quality control and customization, we prefer the Loss wax system over Ceramic molding, or sand casting to make our Buddhist Statues.

☛ FACE: GOLD PAINTED
The face of this Buddhist Statues of Kurukulla has been painted with gold. Reason for painting the face is to define important attributes of the Kurukulla’s face, especially its eyes and Its lips. This normally cannot be obtained by metal carving. Even if we could it will be blurred out by oxidation with time. This is an important and sacred ritual of Buddhism to make the statue ready for its consecration and practice.
For painting the face of a statue we use a special gold variation, which is treated in a way which will transform the metal gold into a paintable powder gold. This is said to be 100% pure gold.
