Description

☛BLACK MAHAKALA:
Black Mahakala is a prominent deity in Tibetan Buddhism, known for his fierce and wrathful form. Also called Bernakchen, he is revered as a protector and remover of obstacles. Black Mahakala is often depicted with a dark blue or black complexion, standing on a corpse, and wearing a crown of five skulls. He holds a trident, a skullcup, and a curved knife, symbolizing his power to destroy ignorance and negativity. Devotees believe that practicing Black Mahakala can help overcome obstacles, dispel negative energies, and cultivate inner strength and wisdom.

☛ LOST-WAX SYSTEM:
This Mahakala Black is made by the process of the Lost-Wax system. The lost-wax process, also known as investment casting, is a time-honored technique used to create metal sculptures. It involves several steps that have been practiced for thousands of years. Skilled artisans begin by sculpting a detailed wax model, capturing every intricate detail of the desired sculpture. The wax model is then coated with a ceramic shell, formed by multiple layers of ceramic material. Once the shell has cured, the wax is melted and drained out, leaving behind a cavity. Molten metal is poured into the cavity, creating a precise replica of the original wax model. After the metal has cooled and solidified, the ceramic shell is carefully removed, revealing the final metal Sculpture.

☛ PARTLY FIRE GOLD PLATING:
The whole body of this Buddhist Statue has been gilded with gold by the ancient process of gold gilding using amalgam Gold. Mr Suman Shakya our inhouse Craftsman and Gold Plating expert has helped us in Gold plating this Buddhist Statues for us, This is a risky job for we heartly thank him for this contribution.
This process of Gold gilding is known as Mercury Gold Gilding (पारा Pārā सुन Suna जलप Jalap), Fire Gilding, or Fire gold plating(In Nepal). Gold gilded by this process is very good for the copper statues, as the statue gilded by this process will retain the gold for a very long time. Gold Gilded by this process is comparatively expensive to the modern electrochemical plating but due to its durability, it is still a preferred choice for many collectors and practitioners alike.

☛ FACE: GOLD PAINTED
The face of this Buddhist Statue of Mahakala has been painted with gold. Reason for painting the face is to define important attributes of the Padmasambhava’s face, especially its eyes and Its lips. This normally cannot be obtained by metal carving. Even if we could it will be blurred out by oxidation with time. This is an important and sacred ritual of Buddhism to make the statue ready for its consecration and practice.
For painting the face of a statue we use a special gold variation, which is treated in a way which will transform the metal gold into a paintable powder gold. This is said to be 100% pure gold.

☛ ABOUT COLOR FINISHING:
The Mahakala Black is adorned with traditional colors, creating a captivating aesthetic through a combination of gold and various hues. This painting technique follows a time-honored process that aims to faithfully represent the Mahakala Black in accordance with traditional color descriptions. In the context of Buddhist statues, this approach holds great significance. Each statue has its own primary color, and it is crucial to depict the statue in its authentic shade.
